Charlotte, NC (May 3, 2018) — International hero Captain Sully Sullenberger will headline the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Foundation Spring Luncheon at noon on May 10 at the Charlotte Convention Center. The fundraising luncheon benefits initiatives for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to reduce crime and enhance officer safety. This year’s event is presented by CPI Security and sponsored by Bank of America, Ken and Beth Beuley, CBI, Salus Federal Properties, Sherrill Charitable Gift Fund, SteelFab, and Wells Fargo.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Foundation, an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, provides critical resources and vital support to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. From essential equipment and state-of-the-art technology to specialized and innovative programs, Foundation support is intended to supplement and enhance existing resources available to the Department. “Through the support from our donors, we are able to provide the tools and training needed for a cutting-edge police force,” said Will Whitley, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Foundation Board Chair. “The goal of the luncheon is to raise much-needed funds for the police department, but also to bring our community together and we are extremely proud Captain Sullenberger will deliver our keynote address this year”.

Named one of 2009’s 100 most influential people in the world by TIME magazine, Captain Sullenberger is an international hero, propelled into the spotlight after safely guiding a US Airways jetliner to an emergency landing on the icy Hudson River. Captain Sullenberger shares timeless management principles and the lessons from his life that prepared him to handle the unprecedented crisis presented by the “Miracle on the Hudson.” A 50-year accomplished pilot, instructor and aviation safety expert with over 20,000 flight hours, he discusses with audiences how education, teamwork, preparation and creating a culture of quality and safety can improve any organization.
