It’s often said, “there’s no place like home.” But for far too many individuals and families in our community, they don’t have a place to call home.

According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), 17 out of every 10,000 people in America were experiencing homelessness for at least one night in January 2019. This number has likely increased due to the health and economic crisis caused by COVID-19, which has greatly impacted homeless and vulnerable people in our community.

Here at CPI Security, we know how important it is to feel safe and secure. We work hard every day to provide that protection and peace of mind to our customers. But we are more than a security company. We are a team of people committed to making every day safer for all members of our community.

That’s why we teamed up with Crisis Assistance Ministry and Roof Above to help our neighbors who are vulnerable, experiencing a crisis, or homeless.

“Our employees are servant leaders and work every day to give back to our community,” said Ken Gill, Founder and CEO, CPI Security.

We are glad to support Roof Above and their work to end homelessness.

Recently, our Community Engagement Committee made 160 bag lunches for guests in Roof Above’s shelter. This volunteer effort not only provides a nourishing meal to our neighbors but also helps free up Roof Above staff to focus on other locations.

“Roof Above is an interfaith organization dedicated to bringing our community together to end homelessness one life at a time,” said Lauren Sanford, Senior Development Officer, Roof Above. “We are so grateful for this labor of love.”

In addition to supporting Roof Above, our employees rolled up their sleeves to volunteer with Crisis Assistance Ministry. We purchased and built hygiene kits that allow individuals and families to redirect their funds to necessities like rent, utilities, and medication.

Our employees worked together to support Crisis Assistance Ministry to help meet the needs of people in our community facing financial crises.

“Crisis Assistance Ministry is in the business of partnering with the community to help individuals and families in our community who are struggling to make ends meet,” said Liz Foster, Director of Volunteer Engagement, Crisis Assistance Ministry. We are thrilled that CPI is committed to being a part of that. This will go far in impacting thousands of people in our community.”
